Install McAfee Online Backup Backup Software to Replace a Windows Computer

Prerequisites: Before you begin, you must:
  1. Understand the computer replacement process. For more information, see Replacing a Computer.
  2. Move, download, or restore all your previously backed up files to the replacement computer.
  3. Download the backup software to the replacement computer. For more information, see Download McAfee Online Backup Software.
CAUTION:
Doing this task does not automatically put your previously backed up files onto the replacement computer!
When you install the McAfee Online Backup backup software to replace a computer, you must use your same McAfee Online Backup username and password. You can do this to:
  • back up a new Windows computer that replaces an old Windows computer.
  • back up a previously backed up computer with a replaced hard drive.
  • back up a previously backed up computer with a re-installed operating system.
  • back up a previously backed up computer from which you uninstalled the backup software. You might do this if you've changed the name of your computer. Depending on your specific situation, a reinstallation may behave either like an entirely new installation, or like an opportunity to replace or add a computer.
  • back up files on the same computer with a different encryption key or different type of encryption key. If you change encryption for your backups, all of your files must upload again.
